Hot-rolled (HR) steel is produced by passing heated slabs or billets through rollers at temperatures above the metal’s recrystallization point, yielding plates, sheets and coils with a uniform, workable grain structure. This process imparts excellent formability and weldability, making HR steel ideal for heavy-gauge applications such as structural beams, girders, railway components and industrial fabrication.
While its surface finish is naturally scaled, HR steel offers superior toughness and dimensional accuracy, and can be further treated or coated for enhanced corrosion resistance. As one of the most versatile and cost-effective construction materials, HR steel forms the backbone of infrastructure, transportation and heavy-equipment manufacturing.
