R A U N A Q

Rails are precision-rolled sections designed to support and guide wheel loads. Manufactured to strict tolerances using high-carbon or alloy steels, they must resist rolling contact fatigue, wear and impact over millions of load cycles. Common profiles include flat bottom (UIC 60, UIC 54), grooved (tram rails) and crane rails. Rails are heat-treated or head-hardened to improve wear resistance, and are typically installed on sleepers/ties with resilient fastenings to damp vibrations.

Applications

  • Mainline railways: Track for freight and passenger trains, high-speed rail corridors and heavy haul routes
  • Crane runways: Tracks in shipyards, ports and manufacturing plants supporting overhead and gantry cranes
  • Light rail & tramways: Urban transit systems in cities, with embedded grooved rails for street running
  • Automated storage & retrieval: Monorail and rail-guided systems in warehouses and distribution centers
